Free Mandala Coloring Pages

A mandala, defined as “a circle” in Sanskrit, is a spontaneous composition of artwork that is comprised of symbols, images or pictures in the shape of a circle. Carl Jung stated that circles provide a sense of security and are symbols of integrity, and mandalas have been frequently integrated into art therapy sessions for adults and children of all ages. Research has shown that coloring detailed structured mandalas that are comprised of symmetrical shapes and symbols is an activity that promotes mindfulness and reduces anxiety, especially test anxiety among youth.

So, if you have been feeling nervous or anxious lately, coloring mandalas might help ease your anxiety and allow you to feel more peace and presence.

Above are three mandala coloring pages that you can download and print out at home for you and your children to enjoy. To download: Click on the photo, then click on the download icon on the left hand column (4th icon that looks like an underlined down arrow). Voila! It’s yours, for free! Hand drawn on paper, with love.

You can color in the mandalas with your favorite art supplies: paint, colored pencils, crayons, watercolors, markers, or even colorful pens! You don't need to finish coloring the entire mandala in one sitting nor do you even need to color inside the lines. You can even add more details to the mandala, if you wish! I encourage you to light a candle, put on some relaxing music, brew yourself a cup of herbal tea, and enjoy the simplicity of coloring.

I’d love to see the finished results – feel free to post them on Instagram and tag me @jia_imagery or email me at jialuo.lisa@gmail.com. Please also feel free to share with anyone who may enjoy these!
